Good Deed For The Day

Tofu with minced Pork and Mushroom
Foo Yoong Egg
Okay, you might be asking what is so special about the two dishes above. Well, ordinary they may seem, but the proceeds from the sale of the two dishes above goes to the Sichuan Earthquake Fund organised by the Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) at Restoran Zhong Yi in Kemayan Square (opposite Hong Leong Assurance). The charity sale was from 11am - 3pm. The price for each of the dish above was RM10 each and the CRSM representative instantly came and collected RM20 once our order were taken by the Lady Boss. We also "Tah Pow" the "Yok Choy Kai" (Herbal Chicken) which went for RM40. The CRSM representative came and we paid RM50 and she said that since this is for charity, we will not be given the change of RM10 but instead the RM50 will go to the fund. OK! No Problem since this is for charity. There were 6 dishes offered for the charity sale one of which was asam fish (RM30). The other two dishes were priced at RM10 which I cannot recall what they were. For all the six dishes, the price was RM110.

This is the restaurant where the charity sale was held

The Rocket

This morning during breakfast was the first time that I have come across this monthly publication by DAP which comes in Chinese and English versions. It cost RM2 and I bought it out of curiosity and also I sympathise with the poor bloke selling it.

You see, what happened was, that this guy was trying to sell it to five men sitting at a table next to mine. Among them was Datuk Yip Chee Kheong (former MCA assemblyman for Rahang who lost in the March 8 elections) and I suspected the rest of them (pretty Mafia looking) must be from MCA too. The DAP fella was trying hard to promote this newspaper to the five men and those five idiots just kept quiet and stared at the poor fella. Haiyo! I am sure the fella recognised that Datuk Yip lah and yet he still tried his luck. Luckily, they didn't start a fight as I was just sitting next to them having breakfast with Sue Ching and Hann.

The fella gave up after 1-2 minutes and slumped to a chair at another table. Once we finished breakfast I walked to him and gave him RM2 and took the English version one.

Sue Ching was right when she said why didn't they buy a copy and see what is written lah and see how they can improve lah. Dungu punya orang!

Pain In The Neck!

It's one of those days! Yes, I was (and am still) having stiff neck when I woke up this morning. It hurts when I tried to look up and not so bad if I turn left and right.

We were always told that to cure stiff neck, you have to put your pillow out in the sun. I have never believed in that and neither have I tried it before. But there's this website which says that one of the remedies to cure stiff neck is to stand under a hot shower with the water on the neck. Hmmm! Never knew that. OK! Off I go to try it.

Batik Competition

TBSC along with two other tadikas were invited to Kompleks Kraf Negeri Sembilan last Friday for the "Program Pendidikan Kraf Pra Sekolah". The event was organised to promote handicraft among the pre schoolers and also to promote the handicraft centre which I did not know existed until this program was organised.

In conjunction with the Program, handicraft competitions were held for the students. The competitions were divided into three categories, batik printing, clay moulding and bamboo painting.

Those interested in visiting the centre, it is occupying the building where the old Land Office used to be near Wisma Negeri.

Wesak Day Celebration

Below is the atmosphere of the Wesak Day celebration in Seremban tonight. We watched the floats procession in front of the post office near the market. There were 7 floats altogether and the first passed by at about 8pm and the last one came by at about 8:45pm.

Initially we were thinking of having hakka mee nearby at Tow Kee shop before the procession passed by. But when we were nearing the shop, I could hear the lady boss screaming at the top of her lungs and I told Sue Ching, "There she goes again, quarreling with her husband". We never went near the shop as I heard that they used to quarrel with cleavers in their hands. Anyway the shop looks like it was closing. So, dinner was "Mun Yee Mee" tah pow from Permai food court after the procession ended.

Outback Dad

Nope! It's not Crocodile Dundee but it's Dad in the picture on arrival at KLIA last Sunday after visiting Australia for 2 months. On Dad's right is Big Sis.

Nasi Briyani In Nilai Old Town

Rena, Alan and me went for lunch today and Alan suggested that we go to Nilai Old Town and have Nasi Briyani at a shop next to the Mosque. Since Rena and me haven't tried it before 7 years since working in Nilai, we decided to give it a try.

The texture and color of the rice made it look very appetising. Taste wise it was also very good. Being a gravy person, I didn't really need to put a lot of dhal into the nasi briyani because the rice tasted quite good without the dhal. Anyway, they were quite stingy with the dhal. They only gave a small miserable plate of dhal and two plates of pickled cucumber for three persons. Alan had to ask for two more plates and the lady wasn't too please.

According to Alan, the shop only sells nasi briyani on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It was quite packed when we reached about 12:20 and by the time we finished and were paying I overheard the boss saying to a customer "Nasi sudah habis". I was just wondering why don't they make more to sell since it's so "laris"(We jokingly came to a conclusion that maybe they do not have enough stained undies to cooked it). Ha!!!

Yummy!!!!

I found this unique clock hanging on the mosque's wall just next to the NB shop

This is the shop with the mosque on its right

The mosque is located next to the Shell Station opposite Public Bank

Eggs With A Difference

What does this look to you? Some rotten Coloured Eggs? Wrong! It's actually egg shells stuffed with agar-agar. Creative Huh?

This is what is inside the eggs after the shells have been removed. Don't they look too pretty to be be eaten? Anyway, they also tasted good too. It was given to us by Mrs Yeoh, our immediate neighbour.

So if anybody is thinking of making a dash to make it now, remember you got the idea from here. Therefore, please give me two of those eggs as royalty once you have made them lah. Ha!!!!

JBA at work again!

Malaysia Boleh! Haiyo I really have to words to saylah. As you can see from the pictures below, JBA is doing what it's best at doing again in front of my house, replacing bursted underground pipes. The digging tonight is the fourth time since I moved in July 14 2001. The first was in 2005, then in May 2006 and the last time was in Dec 2007. Not that I care but the inconvenience of going in and out of the house after the digging is really stressful lah! Not to mention the dirt and dust. Screw JBA!

What is wrong with our piping system? The underground pipes in my housing area have been bursting with an average of at least one case every two weeks.

Have JBA been shortchanged by the contrator who laid the pipes when this housing area was developed or was there any hanky panky? Someone in JBA should assume responsibility and give an explanation on this matter. Maybe I should go look for that assemblyman of mine YB Cha Kee Chin for help. Anybody got any suggestions?

New Stuff For The Week

Got this new gold coloured snart card in the post today. Really do not know why ASTRO is changing the smart cards. My only guess is that there will be another subscription review in the pipeline. If anybody knows the reason for the change in the smart card, please print your answer in the comment section below this posting. Thanks!

Got this by courier service to my office on Wednesday. It's a 4GB Kinston thumb which I redeemed from Bonuslink. Click here for more redemption details.

And this, Sue Ching purchased from Giant, Senawang on Tuesday, 6 May 2008. She got it on her dentist's advice. No prize for guessing why she got it. The cost was RM129.

Pre-Mother's Dinner

Mother's Day is two days away and we decided to celebrate it tonight as all restaurants will be too crowded on Sunday.

So Mother's Day was celebrated at Royale Bintang, just Sue Ching, me and the two kids. Alas, Mum and Dad are still is Sydney. If not, we would celebrate it together with Mum.

Anyway, Mum and Dad will be coming back this Sunday with ETA at 6:55 pm. The flight will depart from Sydney at 12:15 pm local time. So I guess it will be a bit too rush to celebrate in Sydney before the flight. So Ah Koh, instead of celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday, why not celebrate it tomorrow which also happens to be Mum's Birthday. Kill two birds with one stone.

OK! Back to my buffet dinner at Royale Bintang. The food was nothing to shout about and also the food spread was quite poor which is why I am not posting any pics (I also did not bother to take any). The price was RM55++ per adult. Normal buffet price is RM40 for adults and RM25 for kids (Allson's price is RM38 for adult and RM26 for kids). Just because today is BBQ night, the price was increased to RM55. We paid only for two adults because we insisted buffet for two adults to the waitress before we were seated. Kids above 4 will be charged kid's rate which I think is around RM30. Anyway, how much could a 3 year old and a 6 year old eat?

There is nothing extraordianry about the BBQ. Just an additional steamboat stall, a Korean grill stall and a BBQ pit which keeps on grilling the lamb the whole night (maybe just for show). There were also some mouth watering fresh fishes ("Hung Chou" fish was among them) on ice next to the BBQ pit. Sue Ching asked the guy manning the BBQ pit when they were going to BBQ the fishes and guess what the reply was? The fishes were only for display. What a joke!

Today also marks the last day of my food catering and it will be back to Mum's delicious home cook food from next week. Yippeeee!

TBSC Sports Day 2008

Tadika Bintang Seri Cerah (Ee Sean's Tadika) had its Annual Sports Day today and I had to wake up at 6 am. Durrrr! The morning sky looked gloomy and there were signs of rain coming but luckily the weather held. The day started at about 7:30 am with speeches by the students and ended at about 10:30 am. Yours truly was under the sun the whole morning being a judge to determine the winners. There were some disputes by the parenst but judges' decisions were final. Ha!!!! Anyway it was a fun day for both the kids and the parents and kudos to the teachers for the organization. The last two races were reserve for the Dads and Mums. Don't ask me what position I got!

Tun Mahathir

Want to know what is the similarity between The Old Horse and me? Well, we both joined the blogosphere on the same day, yesterday. But that's where the similarity ends because he got more than 10,000 on the first day and I got nothing and on the latest check he got 114,290 hits and I got 20! I guess that's the big advantage of being a former prime minister. No wonder that fler clings on dearly to the post and do not want to relinquish it. Ha!!!!!

Anyway, if you want a peek of The Old Horse's blog, click here.

Full Moon Dinner

Me, the kids and Sue Ching will be attending Christine's (colleague) baby girl's full moon buffet dinner tonight at 6:30pm. For the benefits of those who have a share in the gift that I am presenting to her tonight, here's a glimpse of the gift :

My First Posting. Hurray!!!!!

This being my first posting, I just do not know what to write. I got the inspiration to start this Blog from Rena. So, Rena thanks for the encouragement. Secondly, I also thought by blogging, it would be a equivalent to keeping a diary. I will be able to reminisce back on all the good times like when my daughter stopped wearing diapers at night, my son's tadika, Tadika Bintang Seri Cerah's sports day which falls on this Saturday, 3 May 2008. Ehhmmm! I have been assigned a judge at the finishing line for the Year Six students' track. The job's very simple (I hope so!), just determine the 1,2 & 3 winners. Last year, the principal, Teacher Norris, gave me the privilege to be the photographer. So, I guess, I must have been demoted this year. Ha!!!!! YES!

By the way, we have weaned the little girl from diapers at night since last Monday, 21 April 2008 and she has been fine. She only wet the bed on the first night and since then it has been smooth sailing. YEH!

So, this being my first posting, I will keep it short I hope you all can give me some feedbacks and comments on how to improve going forward.

Lastly, please click on the sponsors' ads on this page and let the ads load first before you close them. Thanks a million!
